Geographic Delay Series
‘Geographic Delay’ is a collaboration with participants of the West Indian Day Parade in Broooklyn; as a means of exploring the humor and fantasy involved in self-making within Caribbean diasporic societies. These interactive portraits deal with the layered histories that make up an individual, and all the alternative possible selves that can emerge out of chance and choice. Using landscape as the pivotal stimulus of perception, my pieces are a constant observation of natural and urban environments as they relate to social, political, personal and socio economic histories. Landscape can serve as central and formative catalysts capable of generating ideas surrounding place, time and the characters that populate and are active within them.
